THE NEW STANDARD HAS ARRIVED

The Rane SL series of interfaces with Serato Scratch Live set the standard for vinyl emulation. The SL 2 advances the technology found in the original SL 1 with these improvements:

* CD / Phono input switch on the SL 2 box.
* Superior sounding 24-bit converters.
* Hotter 3 Vrms input and output.
* 44.1 or 48 kHz sample rate selected in software.
* ASIO / Core Audio drivers for 3rd-party support.
* Smaller and more compact die-cast design.

The Rane SL 2 gives you the freedom to take your entire digital music collection on the road with advanced features that add extra creativity to your DJing. This intuitive system replicates the traditional DJing experience for "real feel" usability. Low latency means the response time from touching the decks to hearing an audio signal is extremely fast. Serato engineers developed system level audio drivers that allow accurate and reliable operation at faster speeds than any other similar package.

The Rane SL 2 USB interface connects one or two standard vinyl or CD turntables to your computer using a single USB cable and audio connections to line inputs on your DJ mixer.

What's in the Box?

The Rane SL 2 is only sold as part of a complete package. The  display box includes:

SL2 Setup

HOW IT WORKS

Serato Scratch Live (SSL) works with your traditional dj setup (turntables or cd turntables plus a mixer). Using specially coded vinyl records / CDs, a custom interface box, and the SSL software, you can manipulate music files on your computer, just as if they were recorded onto the vinyl / cd. That means you can mix and scratch your digital files just like you would a record.  In addition, there are many powerful digital features built into the software like iTunes synch, playlist functions, cue points, sampling, recording, and so much more.

What's New With The SL2

- lower price from SL1
- improved sound quality (24-Bit Converters and 48 kHz USB audio)
- more compact interface design
- upgraded to USB 2.0 from 1.1
- added internal phono preamps + grounding for turntables for mixer-less vinyl to digital transfers
- ASIO / Core Audio drivers for 3rd-party support
- eliminated mic input

SL2 vs SL3

The SL2 is Rane Serato's entry level model, but it still boasts nearly identical hardware specs (including identical sound quality) to the SL3 at a significant price discount. Furthermore, the SSL software is the most integral part of the Serato setup, and both models use the same software. However, for advanced users, the lack of the AUX input / output on the SL2 may be an issue:
- SL3 allows for (3) input decks (2 decks, 1 AUX)
- the AUX input on the SL3 lets you mix 3 simultaneous decks
- the AUX input on the SL3 lets you record your sets in real time within Serato
- the AUX output on the SL3 allows you to send the SP6 (Serato sample player) through its own output
- the AUX output on the SL3 allows you to route The Bridge through its own output
- in addition, the SL3 includes a power supply and interface carrying case

An overwhelming majority of our customers use Serato Scratch Live. It has become both the standard for bedroom DJs and professional club DJs. SSL is the most intuitive system and is truly designed with the DJ in mind.

As a company, Serato seems to be the most in touch with the DJs community. Serato continually introduce free upgrades to their software and introduce new features all the time. In addition, there is a large online support community and documentation for both beginners and advanced DJs. Mix Foundation highly recommends Serato Scratch Live.
